TGIF!!! Yes, that still stands for “Thank GOD, it’s Friday”!
For the majority of you reading this post, you are what we at NEIGHBORHOOD BOUTIQUES refer to as “micro-business owners”…whether solo-preneur, mom-preneur, or current employee of a company or corporation who’s building her business alongside that position.
No matter where you are in that equation, we are here to be a support and resource to assist you in achieving your ultimate goals!
Bottom line…we are ALL about community! Did I happen to mention that I absolutely LOVE alliteration? You probably had already figured out that one by reading the title of this week’s post. I won’t go into all the somewhat boring details about how that came about from my “past life”, just that little “thing” I thoroughly enjoy! It can be challenging at times, but when it all comes together…watch out!
What really is coming together is the building of community here. It’s been (and continues daily to be) the heartbeat of our CEO, Linda Fitzgerald’s, vision from the very beginning of Affiliated Women International many years ago. She will be the first to tell you that it was a “Heavenly download” from PAPA Himself.
You see, God created us first for fellowship with HIM…it’s that incredibly glorious VERTICAL relationship…the one that still, even after all of these years of walking with the Lord, never ceases to amaze me. You mean the Creator of this Universe wants to commune with me? Indeed, HE does!
But He didn’t stop there…and I’m so glad! In the book of Genesis, He said, “It is not good for Man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.” That began the very first HORIZONTAL relationship on earth. And you know “the rest of the story”!
Let’s look at the root word…commune. As a noun, it means “a group of people living together and sharing possessions and responsibilities.” And as a verb, “to communicate with someone or something in a very personal or spiritual way.”
How interesting! Does that word conjure up memories of the hippies back in the ‘60s who chose to separate themselves from mainstream society…move out to the country…live together…grow their own food and live a simpler lifestyle?
I really like the definition of commune as a verb. It actually reminds me of the sacrament of Holy Communion…when Believers of the Christian faith gather around the table of the Lord and break bread together.
Those definitions give a little background of how the word “community” came into being. So here are two definitions: “a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common”; and “a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.
There it is…that’s the real meaning I was waiting to find! That’s exactly what we are creating here at NEIGHBORHOOD BOUTIQUES! We are a team of women who definitely DO have a “particular characteristic in common”…in fact, we have several things in common! We are committed to serving and giving…of our time, talent and resources…in support of other women…because we truly DO share common attitudes, interests, and goals. And, further, we are thrilled at the engagement that’s taking place among our members. There will be much more of that happening in the days to come!
As I stated in the title of today’s post…we are women who are compassionate and caring too! We are also passionate as well about helping you succeed in all areas of your life…both personally and professionally…and are working diligently to provide all you need to reach your dreams and goals…so hang on tight..the best is yet to come!
Won’t you join our COMMUNITY of committed, compassionate and caring women? You will never regret making that decision…it’s a CHOICE!
